Open Show Show Saturday 15 October 2022

Judge: David McCubbin (Contar)

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at your well organized Open Show, I thoroughly enjoyed my days judging in the pleasant atmosphere, a huge thank you to all the exhibitors who brought their beautiful dogs for me to go over, you all took the best dog home on the day. Thank you so much to my ring stewards who kept the day running efficiently with good humour.

On a personal note it was lovely for me to meet up and chat with some friends whom I have not seen for what seems years.

Minor Puppy Dog (2,1a)

1 Buckley’s, Blacktoft Brindisi by Buckleyhill- At only 6 months old this boy showed with enthusiasm and although on his own he well deserved his placing in his class and later I was more than happy to award him Best Puppy in Show, he has a lovely outline both stood and on the move, good moulding to his head with a dark correct eye, ears well set on, nice reach of neck that is well placed into shoulder, he has a good forechest and upper arm which places his front legs well under him, gradual spring of rib carried well back to short coupling, moderate bend to stifle, moved with enthusiastic ground covering action. Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy In Show

Special Award Classes

Judge: Scott Williamson (Sandti)

A big thank you to the committee for giving me the opportunity to judge the Special Award Classes. Must mention the warm friendly welcome given by the committee & special thanks to my steward, Jenny. As expected, temperament was excellent, movement was generally sound & I found no mouth issues. A couple of exhibits were too heavy for me & this was reflected in my placings. Some expert handling on display today but I felt a few of the exhibitors didn’t get the best from their dogs.

Special Puppy Award Dog or Bitch (3,2)

1 Stevenson’s, Caci’s Magic In Every Moment At Steelriver (Imp Swe). Very happy confident 8-month-old bitch, large frame, nice clean outline, attractive typical head of correct shape & dark brown eye, straight front legs with tight feet, nice length of neck, well angulated front & rear, with a correct croup & tail set, good straight rear pasterns, wonderful tail action standing & on the move. Still very raw, ‘all legs’ but moved soundly which bodes well for the future. Sympathetically handled.

Special Post Graduate Award Dog or Bitch (9,3)

1 Huyton’s, Hightyne When I fall In Love. 3-year-old dog with an abundance of ring presence, nicely balanced overall, very attentive to his handler, extremely happy exuberant boy with a constant wagging tail, one-piece head with correct eye shape & colour, straight front legs with nice feet. Good depth of chest, would like a tad more neck & front angulation, rear angulation okay, at times lost his topline when standing.  Moved well around the ring. Well handled.

2 Huyton’s, Go with The Flow Dreams Can Be Joyful By Hightyne. Attractive 5-year-old bitch, nicely moulded head & correct hazel eye, good length of neck, nicely constructed forequarters, adequate second thigh, straight rear pasterns, moved well with good tail action. Expertly handled to advantage but preferred the overall balance of the winner.

3 Grant’s, Westoncruive Black Tornado.

Special Open Award Dog or Bitch (4,0)

1 Huyton’s, Sh Ch Hightyne Ramblin Rose. My star of the day in a class of quality. Litter sister to my previous class winner, a beautiful 3-year-old bitch with an eye-catching profile, moved very well with drive & correct footfall around the ring. Feminine attractive head with a good shaped dark brown eye, plenty chest, textbook length of neck flowing into excellent forequarters, straight front legs with super feet, well-constructed rearquarters, straight rear pasterns, excellent tail action. Again, expertly handled.

2 Thomson’s, Caci’s The Dream Catcher At Badcall (Imp Swe). Mature 4-year-old quality bitch, larger frame, nice outline when standing correctly, attractive one-piece head with a good eye, straight front legs with good feet, strong clean muscular neck, scores highly on depth of chest & front angulation, level top line with good croup & tail set, okay rear angulation but today was overstretched at times, straight rear pasterns, very happy with great tail action. As with the winner, moved very well with drive & correct footfall.

3 McDonald’s, Sh Ch Steelriver Dance In The Sun At Skyloch.
